The Somnus Model Elypse Electrosurgical Generator is a single channel electrosurgical generator that produces low-power, monopolar RF energy at approximately 460 kHz,. The generator delivers up to 15 watts of power.
Somnus Model Elypse Electrosurgical Generator delivers a high-frequency alternating current through and electrode needle into surrounding tissue. Iconic agitation occurring in the tissue results in molecular friction that produces heat, the heat is generated through the tissue, not in the electrode.
The Generator operates using an automated algorithm. The user adjusts two parameters - target temperature and either energy or duration - priori to delivering radiofrequency (RF) energy. During the procedure, the Generator then automatically adjusts the power to achieve and maintain the target temperature.
